For those customers involved with Shipment Monitoring, you can provide flight information with any given Shipment. SmartView will then try to retrieve relevant events from that flight and add them to the Shipment as Shipment Milestones.
SmartView obtains flight information from 3rd party services. At the moment, SmartView has integrations with the following services:
At the moment the events that SmartView tries to obtain are the following:
- Scheduled Time of Departure (STD)
- Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA)
- Actual Time of Departure (ATD)
- Actual Time of Arrival (ATA)
Please note that the 3rd party services do not offer any guarantees on the availability of each and every flight nor for each flight event, as such it is a 'best effort' approach. This may result in some flights not being available at all, or some events not being available. For example, it may happen that the flight schedule never is made available but the actual flight time might be. It can also happen that no events are available at all.
Other noteworthy aspects of this functionality are:
- Future flight information
The further ahead in the future you try to schedule a flight, the more unlikely it is to be available. For example, if you create a Shipment in SmartView scheduled for two weeks in the future, and you provide its flight information, SmartView may not be able to retrieve it. As such, you might need to try it again closer to the actual flight date. - Historical flight information
It is possible to add flight information to a Shipment that has already occurred. SmartView will then try to retrieve all available flight events. - Delays
There will be some delays between providing the flight information and SmartView making the information available in SmartView. SmartView will update its information every 4 hours, but there may also be delays with the 3rd party service
